In a previous life....

I believe that in a previous life I must have been Indonesian.  As a child (my family can attest) I often got in trouble for eating from communal bowls with my hands.  I remember telling them all defiantly that one day when I had a house of my own I would eat sitting on the floor and with my hands and guess what they do in some parts of Indonesia...they sit on the floor and eat with their hands!  Many little eateries have both table and floor seating and Colin has been a good sport in joining me on the floor (although he's often so excited about the food I'm sure if I told him that it was customary to eat while standing on your head he'd do it).  After a meal our joints hurt, our mouths and fingers gleam and I am completely satisfied!

  1. I stayed in Ahmed in 1999. Wonderful place on top of a cliff overlooking the everpounding surf. It felt like paradise. In fact some Australian had called it just that. By the way these Hindi always pray for any event they undertake. Enjoy your primitive eating manners for now. Soon you will have to adjust again:) See you later this year. Daan
