-The people are very very very friendly. In fact they were so helpful and friendly that Renee and I had a hard time trusting their advice sometimes because it was almost too friendly and suspicious....but nope, they just want to help.
-Every minute of every day you must be willing to share your bags, food, hotel room, bathroom, shoes...everything with the ANTS! To a lesser degree frequent visitors were the cockroaches, scorpions and of course mosquitoes.
-The cities are busy, noisy, crowded, hot and polluted, but yet still had a great atmospheres. People always outside being social, eating street food, smiling, laughing. We felt quite safe in the cities.
-Countryside is somewhat quiet, plum full of agriculture lands; mostly rice paddies. These small plots of land feed the 250 MILLION people who live in this country! (4th highest population in the world)
-Renee and I went to a U-Pick Strawberry Farm to get a few berries for lunch. Funny thing, the boxes are cheaper at the counter than if you "u-pick them". When we asked why the pricing is backwards, they simply said "If we let you pick them, you will take ALL of our good berries." Makes sense I guess.
-A major highlight was the food, much of it nice and spicy. Gado-Gado, Nasi-Goreng, Mie Goreng...the list goes on.
-We visited 3 distinct Islands while here. Lombok was relatively undeveloped and kind of quiet. Bali is geared for one thing - Tourists! But for good reason, absolutely beautiful. Java, is a small island of 145 million people...Yikes. Endless Mega-opolises, people evrerywhere. So densely packed, the people can share shirts at the same time. Number one past-time in Java is texting on a Blackberry.
